Seagulls in the Blueridge Mountains?

A group of seagulls have arrived near the Blueridge Mountains. We are about 250 miles from the ocean, so this is a bit odd. It has happened before, but they are certainly infrequent visitors. This fellow here flew very close to me, no tele adapter required.
Our Indian summer has ended, as the temperatures also plummeted
