![Mule Bridge at Eagle Rock Virginia
The remains of this bridge crosses the James River at Eagle Rock. At one time, mules pulling wagons of lime and iron ore, brought the raw materials for an old foundry behind me. The iron works is an interesting photographic study itself. Before the American Civil War and during the war it produced "pig iron" used in the molding of cannons and cannon balls. These old iron works can be found across this part of Virginia, I am sure many who drive by have no idea of what these structures were for.
