dreamers of the dream
“We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of the dream. Wandering by lone sea breakers, and sitting by desolate streams. World losers and world forsakers, for whom the pale moon gleams."
Arthur William Edgar O'Shaughnessy
Mule Bridge at Eagle Rock Virginia
The remains of this bridge crosses the James River at Eagle Rock. At one time, mules pulling wagons of lime and iron ore, brought the raw materials for an old foundry behind me. The iron works is an interesting photographic study itself. Before the American Civil War and during the war it produced "pig iron" used in the molding of cannons and cannon balls. These old iron works can be found across this part of Virginia, I am sure many who drive by have no idea of what these structures were for. Tomorrow, I will post a picture of the iron works at Eagle Rock.

“The Road goes ever on and on down from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, and I must follow, if I can, pursuing it with eager feet, until it joins some larger way where many paths and errands meet. And whither then? I cannot say.”
J.R.R. Tolkien (English Writer and Author of richly inventive epic fantasy The Lord of the Rings, 1892-1973)
Leave the Light on
"Whenever you see darkness, there is extraordinary opportunity for the light to burn brighter."

Red Dawn Light
“A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight, and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world.”
Oscar Wilde (Irish Poet, Novelist, Dramatist and Critic, 1854-1900)

Smith Mountain Lake is one of the largest Lakes in Virginia and is manmade with 500 miles of shoreline.
luminous intensity
It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but you are a conductor of light. Some people without possessing genius have a remarkable power of stimulating it.”
Arthur Conan Doyle, Sr. (Scottish writer, creator of the detective Sherlock Holmes, 1859-1930)

This is facing northwest on the Blueridge Mountains. The blue is characteristic of the mountains but not always this ethereal, but when it does happen it is magic. Snow and cold weather are coming to us, behind me to the East is where I live in Lynchburg Virginia. Snow was just starting to stick to my face as I was photographing this scene.

rhythmical motion
Nature is ever at work building and pulling down, creating and destroying, keeping everything whirling and flowing, allowing no rest but in rhythmical motion, chasing everything in endless song out of one beautiful form into another.
John Muir
one cannot fly into flying
“He who would learn to fly one day must first learn to stand and walk and run and climb and dance; one cannot fly into flying.”

 Friedrich Nietzsche
pleasure by simplicity
“As I have practiced it, photography produces pleasure by simplicity. I see something special and show it to the camera. A picture is produced. The moment is held until someone sees it. Then it is theirs.”

 Sam Abell
